A Lifelong Connection
They say baseball is a game of patience, but for those of us who grew up in the Kingdome, it is a game of the heart. I still remember the roar of the 1995 and 1996 seasons—that Refuse to Lose magic that felt like it would never end. I remember the 116-win dominance of 2001, and then the long, quiet years that followed.
True to the Blue
For a long time, being a Seattle Mariners fan usually came with a punchline. We were used to the cycle: getting our hopes up, riding the high, and watching it crash. We lived through the 18-inning heartbreak of the 2022 ALDS and the late-September collapse of 2023. For years, being True to the Blue meant being comfortable with being let down.
The Project: Capturing a Culture Shift
I am, and will forever be, a Mariners fan. That identity is the lens through which I approached my partnership with Fanatics to produce a lifestyle documentary series focused on the Mariners’ loyal fanbase. Tasked with capturing the "true" fan experience, I moved through the stands to document the atmospheric highs and lows of game day.
I didn't just want to film the game; I wanted to film the soul of the city during a year that changed the DNA of the franchise.
2025: Breaking the Door Down
Watching this team win the AL West for the first time in 24 years was about a city finally finding its voice again. From the coaching staff’s leadership to Cal Raleigh making history with 60 home runs—the greatest offensive season by a catcher ever—winning finally felt inevitable. It felt like the ghosts of the Kingdome were finally cheering along with us.
In Game 7 of the ALCS on October 20, we were just eight outs away from the World Series before it slipped away in a 4-3 loss. It stung, but for the first time in my life, it felt different. Even without the trophy, 2025 proved the culture has shifted.
We are no longer just happy to be there; we are the team to beat. This team has the grit of 1995 and the talent of 2001. Seattle is a baseball town through and through, and through this series, I wanted to show the world that we are no longer just knocking on the door—we are breaking it down.
